Is it really a good deed to stop and let one car into traffic ahead of you, if you have a line of 18 cars behind you? The small good makes you feel good, but hinders many more than it helps, on the whole. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one. At least, that's what Spock said. :)
